Awakenings //

A program designed especially to meet the needs of women & their children

Awakenings is an extended-care residential rehabilitation program which focuses on the unique treatment needs of chemically dependent and recovering women. Awakenings utilizes a holistic approach, addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual elements of addiction for the individual and the family unit. Length of stay varies with the individual.

WARM & CARING ENVIRONMENT

Located in the rolling hills of Belmont County, Ohio, Awakenings provides a caring, home-like atmosphere. The facility is staffed 24 hours a day with skilled professionals which include certified counselors, chemical dependency technicians, and a case manager.

INNOVATION IN TREATMENT

Awakenings accomplishes its goal of enhancing the chemically dependent woman's desire to become drug-free by teaching skills needed to approach life in a new way. This family-style setting provides individualized treatment. Variable lengths of stay are considered in order to meet each woman's specific needs. Skills development for a drug-free lifestyle is provided along with referrals to sober support meetings, recreation, parenting, case management, and educational and vocational involvement. The children's component offers skills enhancement activities, education, and counseling.

FAMILY APPROACH

Pregnancy and childcare issues are sometimes barriers to women seeking chemical dependency rehabilitation. Awakenings responds to the needs of all women, including pregnant women and those with children. Because Awakenings is dedicated to the concept of family recovery, the family component is designed to include children up to and including age 12 in the residential environment; other family members and older children are involved in the extended-treatment philosophy.

CERTIFICATION & SUPPORT

Awakenings is accredited through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS). Awakenings is supported by the Mental Health and Recovery Board serving Belmont, Harrison, and Monroe Counties.

A FLEXIBLE SCALE

Crossroads Counseling Services recognizes a variety of economic backgrounds for prospective Awakenings residents. A fee scale has been designed to address individual needs. Self-payment, Medicaid, and most private health plans are accepted as payment. No woman will be denied services because of race, age, disability, religion, or ability to pay.

DISCHARGE PLANNING

Residents nearing the end of the treatment phase will develop plans for continuing recovery apart from Awakenings. The primary therapist and case manager will assist each resident in establishing community resources and aftercare planning.
